Did you know that today (Friday 17 January) is ‘Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day’, so we thought we’d put it to the test and present you with a few tasty temptations to help you make that move to the dark side! Well, rules are made to be broken… the legal ones that is.
He’s our round-up of some of the best excuses going down in Guildford town this January.
29 Castle St
Dry January… it’s so last year! This year we’re all about GINUARY, definitely something worth raising a glass to!
The Keep on Castle Street seems to have the same idea as us, with an outstanding array of gins, tonics and botanicals to help you find the right G&T for any occasion.
Pay them a visit on Fever-Free-Friday and get a Fever Tree tonic for free with any double gin.
Love Brownies Guildford
Thought you’d had your fill of chocolate over Christmas? Well, the guys at Love Brownies will make you feel differently about that. Situated in Tunsgate, they’re an Aladin’s Cave of indulgent chocolate treats plus there’s freshly brewed coffees and a heap of other delights to eat for breakfast and lunch on offer there too.
You can also enjoy a little retail therapy whilst you’re with them, with some lovely goodies and gifts up for sale. Chocolate, caffeine and shopping, we reckon they’ve hit the nail on the head in terms of busting three New Year’s Resolutions in one go!
8 Market Street
One of our New Year’s Resolutions for 2020 is to only eat the best, and where possible, be ethical too. Who knew that we’d have to eat chocolate (and perhaps break another resolution!) to do that. Hotel Chocolat is renowned for being one of the best luxury British chocolatiers and they pride themselves on their cocoa grower ethics as well.
Drop into their store and bliss out with their free in-store chocolate tasting or sink into one of their velvetiser hot chocolates!
36-40 London Road
Now we think the indulgent afternoon tea on offer at The Mandolay is a win-win for everyone! If, like us, you’ve promised to spend more time catching up with friends and family, then what better place to do it than over a quintessentially English afternoon tea. Delicate pastries, warm scones with homemade preserves, generously filled finger sandwiches and a selection of fine teas, all served to perfection. Why not throw in a glass of chilled Prosecco too?
OK, so the diet and DryJan may go out the window, but you’ve got those extra brownie points back with mum!
Here are just a few suggestions to tempt you away from the straight and narrow, but Guildford has got plenty more places for you to enjoy breaking those New Year’s Resolution. Just visit www.experienceguildford.com for more inspiration!
