Halloween at The Boileroom!

Saturday 28th October 7.30pm-1am The Blue Lips
The Pineapple Dudes // Tony Fresko & The Dream Machine

Blue Lips is the collaboration of electronic musician, Seb Trillo, and guitarist/bassist Dan Norman. The duo's experimental genre spans from minimal techno to funk house. Their sound is unique and sure to draw a crowd. The band has received interest from several labels despite only being new to the music scene. They hope to release an album soon.https://soundcloud.com/blue-lips-band
Tony Fresko and The Dream Machine is the brainchild of Nathan Hyde; a self taught multi-instrumentalist and producer. Hyde produces a blend of psych rock and dream pop that is bound to be a hit with fans who groove to similar artists like Mac Demarco and Tame Impala. We have got a spooky Halloween special coming to The Electric Theatre this month

The Guildford Fringe Theatre Company are launching The High Octane Club, a night of Burlesque and Cabaret at The Electric Theatre, Guildford, with a Halloween special on Saturday 28 October. The night is full of glitz, glamour and hilarity! You can see what burly and beautiful acts we have booked below... its certainly a show not to be missed! Who's on the bill... Lady Alex
Once described as 'Bette Midler on acid', Lady Alex's fiery blend of no-nonsense compering, comedy and fire burlesque performance has been a regular feature of the cabaret scene.  Lady Alex has been twirling tassels and causing anarchy in the audience for the Wam Bam club for the last ten years as well as other venue across all the UK and abroad.  Watch out: sometimes she bites!
Bonnie Fleur
Ready to own the stage, you’re in for a very special performance from Bonnie Fleur: a burlesque artist with an ease to tease with no ‘please’!
Griffin & Jones
The Pioneers of Slapdash Magic, Griffin & Jones are award-winning idiots who have become famous for their fast banter, tight chemistry, contagious energy and show-stopping wizardry.  Whether trying to flog you their own brand of snake-oil or coerce you into playing one of their ridiculous games, these guys will not only leave you asking how they did it, but also why…
Faye Feline
Faye Feline is a neo-burlesque performer based in Leicester, whose varied acts always add a comic twist or alternative edge to more traditional burlesque themes and styles.  This Halloween, prepare to be taken on a trip to the darker side of burlesque as she draws you in with two character-led acts and takes you along on their journey – but where will they lead you?
Trinity Vogue
Charming, offbeat musical cabaret from a vintage songstress, Tricity Vogue brings a repertoire of surprising tunes and a colourful history of romantic misadventure.  This ukulele-strumming cabaret performer presents her own blend of slink and sass: a musical concoction that she likes to call "cheeky jazz" – Think Peggy Lee after a few too many cocktails.

The Boileroom announce two dates for October

We have just announced two genre spanning shows coming up at the end of month, from Blue Lips on 28th October, and Muskets and Wallflower co-headlining on 29th October! Blue Lips is the collaboration of electronic musician, Seb Trillo, and guitarist/bassist Dan Norman. The duo's experimental genre spans from minimal techno to funk house, a sound so unique and sure to draw a crowd. The band has received interest from several labels despite only being new to the music scene. Also joining Blue Lips will be the psychedelic dream pop wonder of Tony Fresko and The Dream Machine, and The Pineapple Paradox.
You'll ? this if you ?: electronic music, psychedelic dream pop, smooth jazz, Tame Impala and Mac DeMarco
Muskets are Brighton's hottest alt rock group. Their vibes of 00s post hardcore, pop sensibilities and relatable lyrics make them stand out as attitude driven but with a softer edge than their punk peers. They have just announced the release of their debut record Chew, and have had plays on BBC Radio 1.
?: At The Drive In, Biffy Clyro, Fugazi
// L I S T E N  N O W // I N T E R V I E W //
Emo punk at its finest finds itself in the form of Wallflower. Their songs are cathartic and full of passion, dramatic and dark. With appearances at Download Festival and praise from leading alt taste-makers Upset Magazine and Daniel P. Carter, catch these guys before they hit the big time.
?: Decade, Brand New, Boston Manor
// L I S T E N  N O W // I N T E R V I E W //

PREPARE FOR EXTENSIVE UK TOUR DATES
INCLUDING DATES WITH
DANNY & THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD
+ WILDWOOD KIN

“The trio’s debut is a very modern take on Americana, as much lo-fi grunge as it is country” Q MAGAZINE

“Finding beauty in the everyday, William The Conqueror matches the mundane to the magical” CLASH

“This group is good. Damn good” THE 405

“It is rather rare for a brand new act to come out of the gate so abruptly and into mainstream consciousness so early on in their career.” METRO

William The Conqueror will soon tour the UK with dates including London’s Moth Club on 14 November - the trio became an industry buzz band this year when they were snapped up by record label Loose, publishers Blue Raincoat and were championed by influential media including Clash, Metro/Killing Moon, Adobe & Tear Drop, The 405, Folk Radio, One Stop Record Shop and The Guardian who described their music as “stomping country rock veering into stoner grunge”.

Hailing from the North coast of Cornwall, the band is lead by former folk star Ruarri Joseph alongside multi-instrumentalists Harry Harding and Naomi Holmes. Their debut release Proud Disturber Of The Peace landed no. 6 in the UK’s Official Americana Chart as well as no.4 in the Indie Breakers and received rave reviews from publications including Q Magazine and The 405. With a hotly anticipated UK headline tour in November alongside additional support dates for Danny And The Champions Of The World and plans underway on a follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album – 2018 is already looking like it will submit to the might of William the Conqueror.

Scouting for Girls at GLive plus special guests

Scouting For Girls burst onto the scene and signed to Epic in February 2007.  A decision which saw them enjoy a triple platinum number 1 debut album, multiple top ten singles and earned them a dedicated set of fans that still follow them avidly a decade later.  The occasion was marked earlier this year by a very special intimate Valentine’s Day gig at London’s Bush Hall to which over 20,000 loyal fans applied via a ballot to nab one of the 300 tickets available. Throughout Scouting For Girls’ immensely successful career they’ve sold over 1.5 million albums, two million singles, had four Brit Award nominations, an Ivor Novello nomination, had four top ten singles, sold-out Wembley Arena and sold-out The Royal Albert Hall and had a series of hit singles all of which were inescapable radio smashes.  Ten years later, Scouting For Girls know that 2017 will be a special one.

Jim White at St Mary's Church

JIM WHITE is set to release new album 'Waffles, Triangles & Jesus" and has announced his European tour dates. “White remains one of modern music's most fascinating artists”, according to The Line Of Best Fit, who spoke to Jim White about his forthcoming new record and new song, 'Far Beyond The Spoken World'. Discussing the inspiration behind the new track, Jim explains:   “All my life I've battled the considerable undertow of fear of abandonment. It was never crippling, but was certainly ever present. This song was written at a time when I was first becoming aware of the dimensions of that issue. I've spent much of my adult life alone (I have kids, but no partner), in great part due to some serious psychological baggage I acquired as a child. As I enter the later years of my life I'm working to better understand those complexities and not let them overly dictate the circumstances of my life. The riff came together when I was playing banjo one day and suddenly I stumbled upon the core pattern in the song. As I repeated the lilting riff over and over suddenly the words to Far Beyond came flying into my mind. This is a song I haven't thought of or sang in some 30 years. Interesting how the subconscious has its way! So it's a collision of intuitive elements.”

Sam Amidon at St Mary's Church

We've got a few more bookings to tell you about - there's sure to be something here of interest.  Well, all the artists we've brought to Guildford in 2017 have been from the USA - Sarah Jarosz - Courtney Marie Andrews - Aoife O'Donovan - John Murry - Joan Shelley.  So it's nice to do something a bit different. Yes, it's an Englishman next! John Smith: solo artist, singer/songwriter, ace guitar player and regular member of Lisa Hannigan's touring band. The legend has it that John got his first break when he wrote a letter asking John Martyn if he could do a support on his upcoming tour. When he heard the tape JM asked him to do the whole tour. Now, wiz forward to this year and John has just released his latest album HEADLONG, and it's his best yet.  So it's a great pleasure to welcome him here at last.  He'll be at the Keep on 1 November.
Just a few tickets left for this one, it's bound to sell out in the next few days. And looking ahead to the rest of the year and beyond there's some rare treats for which we're back to the USA for - the return later in November of the excellent JIM WHITE. One of my all-time favourites SAM AMIDON arriving in December. And finally the legend that is CHARLIE PARR next March.  If you don't know them, please check them OUT! Click here for tickets.

SAINT PETERSBURG CLASSIC BALLET

SAINT PETERSBURG CLASSIC BALLET
THE NUTCRACKER & GISELLE

After a hugely successful tour last year, the Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet is returning to G Live this December! Presented by PMB Presentations, the elite Russian company will be performing their favourite repertories at G Live from 26 – 28 December 2017, with stunning sets, lavish costumes and sublime dancers.

Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet’s youthful company has been earning rare reviews from audiences and dance critics. Their technical ability and storytelling warms the heart and delights the eye.  This season’s repertoire will feature The Nutcracker and Giselle.

Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet’s performances have an air of magic, complemented by a full orchestra and outstanding soloists who will take your breath away! The Nutcracker is delightfully festive, as Clara is whisked away on a fairy tale adventure by her Nutcracker Prince. Giselle, new to G Live this year, tells the story of a village girl whose everlasting love saves her beloved from a wretched dance to the death.

The company, which was founded by Medvetskaya in 1996, has dancers who have trained at the finest schools under some of Russia’s most esteemed teachers.  Principal Dance, Natalia Romanova, in particular has won over audiences with her flawless and passionate performances.

Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet The Nutcracker Tuesday 26 December 2017, 2.30pm Wednesday 27 December 2017, 2.30pm & 7.30pm Giselle Thursday 28 December 2017, 2.30pm Tickets Tickets: £32.50, 42.50 Unwaged, Students & Over 60s: ... read more
