Well, everyone from Katy Perry to Ellen Degeneres to Oprah Winfrey swears that they intentionally created outcomes by using a simple tool:  Vision Boards.

A Vision Board is a way to sell your own ideas to yourself, to anchor to your vision and to allow the magic of manifestation to work in your life. Finally. As someone who has made my own Vision Boards (and manifested some amazing results!), I’ve... read more

Guildford Jazz: Jazz Cafe - Laura Zakian Quartet

Tuesday 14 January 2020 A deep connection with the emotional meaning of songs has always underpinned
Laura’s assured and sensitive interpretations of the Great American songbook and

jazz interpretations of contemporary tunes. She has combined her artistic career with

Sunday 26 January 2020 Will Purdue is a singer - songwriter influenced by all the great sad young men, such as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young.
Will slowly recorded his EP with Jo Meacham in the even more rural Hollington, at first only to record better versions of his instrumental bedroom songs. However Jo helped instil a confidence that he was hugely lacking and soon enough he was writing lyrics and melodies to the instrumentals, with writes and rewrites almost daily at times. The music took shape as they brought session musicians in to help create the first EP: A Past Life.

IVW: BC Camplight at The Boileroom

Tuesday 28 January 2020 BC Camplight is the moniker of maverick songsmith Brian Christinzio. The Philadelphian turned
Mancunian is considered one of indie music’s most forward-thinking artists with a discography which acts as a
soundtrack to a life rife with bad fortune, mental illness, running afoul of the law, and ultimately absolute
redemption. Whilst living in Philadelphia Christinzio performed live with The War On Drugs in between
releasing 2 critically successful yet commercially ignored records. He was also a coveted session pianist lending
his talents to scores of albums, perhaps most notably Sharon Van Etten’s ‘Epic’. After a period of homelessness
and running on fumes creatively Christinzio made a move across the Atlantic to Manchester, UK in an effort
take control of his life and reshuffle his musical deck.

The result was the recording of 2015’s ode to Manchester and baroque pop tour de force “How To Die In The North”. The recordings resulted in a record deal with Bella Union Records and placed Christinzio on a path towards artistic fulfilm... read more

IVW: John at The Boileroom

Sunday 2 February 2020 Taking the mundane spirit of their name as a manifesto, Crystal Palace based two
piece JOHN (both members aptly named John) offer a deadpan approach that has
become the recognisable trait of their live performance, with an almost mechanical
solidity rare for only two bodies. Alongside the tight rhythmic synchronisation of
guitar and drums, introspective lyrics suggest that literature and spoken word are just
as important influences as the Punk, Noise and Rock genres they might comfortably
fit into. This balance between content and volume has lead them on to stages with
bands such IDLES, Mclusky and METZ, as well gathering support from BBC
6Music’s Steve Lamacq and Seattle’s KEXP. If you were in need of anymore
persuasion, 2017’s debut God Speed In The National Limit sets the tone, with 2019’s
Out Here On The Fringes cementing their reputation as a unique live force.

Ute Lemper: Rendezvous with Marlene at The Electric Theatre

Sunday 2 February 2020 This show is based on a 3 hour phone call and exchange between Marlene and Ute in 1988 in Paris, 30 years ago. After receiving the French Moliére Award for her performance in Cabaret in Paris, Ute had sent a postcard to Marlene, who had lived at 12 Avenue de Montaigne since 1979, essentially apologizing for all the media attention comparing her to Marlene Dietrich. Ute was just at the beginning of her career in theatre and music, whereas Marlene looked back on a long, fulfilled life of movies, music, incredible collaborations, love stories and stardom.

What a secret gift to hear Marlene talk about her life, her work and style, her love for the poet Rilke, her complicated relationship with Germany, her sorrow and her fascinations. Six days before Ute’s opening night playing the part of Lola i... read more
