Update on the Tunsgate Quarter Development

Comments from Jon Munce of Queensberry Real Estate on the delayed opening of Tunsgate Quarter Development:

"I want to give you an update about our development work on Tunsgate Quarter in Guildford.

Due to the complex nature of the build and some unforeseen challeneges to our construction programme we have decided to defer the opening of Tunsgate Quarter until February 2018. This will enable us to ensure that the scheme opens in the best possible condition allowing both our tenants and visitors to enjoy the best quality experience in fantastic surroundings with a great choice of shops, cafes and restaurants.

The construction work has required the demolition and rebuilding of large sections of the building including the installation of a new eye-catching transparent roof which will allow natural light to fill the new two level central courtyard housing new shops, cafes, and restaurants.  As you know, the scheme interacts with the High Street, Tunsgate, and Castle Street which necessitates some careful management to minimise disruption to current traders.

We have added some new art deco elements in to the design which we feel will add significant appeal to the development both externally and internally. This has added some time to the construction period to allow these additional aesthetic embellishments to be included.

A number of exciting brands will open in February 2018 including The Ivy Collection, Oka, Loaf, Cath Kidston, The White Company and Bobbi Brown, with more to be announced in the next month or so.

We hope to see many of you at the opening Tunsgate Quarter."
