Guildford-on-Sea. Sun, sand and shopping, what's not to love?

Life's a beach when you visit Guildford this August as families and visitors can enjoy all the fun of the seaside slap bang in the middle of the town. Guildford may be an hour from the coast but Experience Guildford are making waves by bringing a family fun beach to the banks of the River Wey.

Located next to The Electric Theatre, Onslow Street, Guildford-on-Sea will be open and free to visit from 14 to 16 August between 10am to 4pm each day. An exciting 'urban beach', complete with bucketfuls of sand, deck chairs, balloons, beach huts and seaside entertainment, Guildford-on-Sea will offer visitors the ideal place to relax and enjoy a spot of sunshine with the sand between their toes after a busy day at the shops.

Developed and delivered by Experience Guildford and supported by Guildford Borough Council, Guildford-on-Sea adds to the ongoing events and marketing initiatives planned by the town centre's Business Improvement District, designed to raise the profile of Guildford and drive footfall and trade to its shops, leisure and lifestyle businesses.
Commenting on the rationale behind Guildford-on-Sea and the benefits it will bring to the town, Charlotte Whitaker, Project Manager at Experience Guildford says;

"Bringing Guildford's first urban beach to the town centre offers a great opportunity to show off our town and attract visitors from a larger catchment area. It's something different, something fun and definitely something that can be enjoyed by everyone, young and old. Guildford-on-Sea adds to the calendar of events and activities that we have planned throughout the year to support our BID members, increasing potential customer numbers to our retail, food and drink and leisure businesses. It also helps us promote those less explored areas of the town centre and showcase the fantastic riverside location on which Guildford is positioned."
